THE JOURNEY OF FINE WINE
Robertson Winery’s unfaltering commitment to quality led to the creation of this exclusive range named after the winery’s home at No 1 Constitution Road in Robertson. The maiden 2002 Shiraz was launched in 2004, commemorating ten years of democracy in South Africa under the new constitution, and rose to great heights with a steady stream of prominent accolades. Joining the Shiraz in this range, the award-winning Constitution Road Chardonnay 2014 followed in 2016.
FOUR PILLARS OF SOUTH AFRICA
The Constitution Road wines are freshly adorned with a creative Anthony Lane label design symbolising the democratic pillars of the South African constitution, mirroring the values and beliefs of Robertson Winery: Liberty/Freedom, Governance/Wisdom and Knowledge, Justice and Equality/Balance and Consistency & Provenance/Sense of Place.
LIBERTY & FREEDOM
Though each harvest receives their utmost attention and respect, our winemakers are entrusted with experimentation. It’s this freedom to explore the true potential of the Robertson valley’s rich soils, unique climate and the genuine passion of the people that results in flavourful wines that celebrate abundance.
WISDOM & KNOWLEDGE
For years, our winemaking has been the work of many people. From the hands that have nurtured the vineyards and developed the cellar to the knowledge shared between generations of winemakers, all have contributed to making our wines distinctive. It ensures that with each vintage yet more is added for you to share.
BALANCE & CONSISTENCY
Creating great wine rests in nuance and subtlety. Sometimes less is more, in other instances the reverse is true. Only a sensitive understanding of the values each varietal and vineyard brings ensures balance and consistency. This, our winemakers employ to find the perfect place between acidity, tannins and fruit.
PROVENANCE, SENSE OF PLACE
From the grape to the glass, we believe that who we are and where our wine comes from shows in every sip. From mornings blanketed with dew to the sun drenching the Langeberg mountains to our big-hearted people, if wine could express its origins, ours would tell you it’s from a place where there’s always more to share.
WINES WORTH CELEBRATING
Both supremely elegant, sophisticated and complex wines, the Constitution Road Shiraz and Chardonnay, sourced from selected premium vineyards and given the utmost care in the cellar, have lived up to their lofty reputation. The beautifully rounded and refined, rich, creamy Chardonnay with a fresh citrus edge and a light cloak of oak, has regularly enjoyed golden success at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards, Chardonnay Du Monde and Vitis Vinifera Awards as well as excellent ratings in Platter’s wine guide. The rich, powerful and immensely alluring velvety Shiraz with gorgeous ripe dark fruit enveloping warm spice and a hint of dark chocolate, hasseen exceptional performances at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards, the Shiraz SA Wine Challenge, Syrah du Monde, Vitis Vinifera Awards and regular 4½ and 4 star Platter’s ratings as well as a Decanter World Wine Awards Trophy. The Constitution Wines are made by Jacques Roux, the passionate and totally focused specialty winemaker at Robertson Winery since 2001, who lives and breathes wine.
